How To Overcome Invite Exhaustion And Make More Friends

If you’re like most of us, you get quite a few invites from a variety of social networks all the time. Whether someone wants you to sign up to look at pictures of their dog, or to register for a daily newsletter, they never stop coming. So, you can only imagine that the invite you send out from Uber could easily get lost among the crowd. Of course we do our best to make our message fun and attractive to people on the receiving end, but unfortunately that’s not all it takes sometimes.

Your invite has to stand out above the rest. What makes your Uber page special enough that people will want to visit it? The people receiving your invites need to know why they should join your new network and not their other friend’s. They are most likely suffering from invite exhaustion and may want to immediately delete your lovely invite.

You need to get your mailing list to overcome their invite exhaustion and this is how: follow up your initial invite sent from Uber with a personalized email. Send out the invite from Uber either during registration or from the link on your Home page.

The next day, log in to your email account and send an email to your mailing list from there. This mainly acts as a reminder email, but it shows the people you contacted that it’s actually you sending out this message and not some automated system. Send out a message along the lines of, “I hope you received my invite from Uber yesterday. I joined a new site called uber.com and I know what you’re thinking, “not another one.” But, this site is different and I’ve been able to design a custom page and get in touch with a lot of like-minded people.” Then insert a few lines about why you want them to go there, etc etc. People will be MUCH more likely to visit your page after seeing a personalized follow-up email such as this.

Sending the follow-up email will prove to be extremely successful in getting the people on your mailing list to come to your page. Many people are against the generic invites sent out by websites, but your personal invite shows you really care about what you’re doing.

Try it out, you just may end up with 500 new friends by tomorrow!

Have you tried something else that worked great too? Tell us about it in the comments section.
